 The Life That Satisfies - 31 July, 2026

“…so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” — 1 Timothy 6:19

Every person longs for a life of meaning and lasting satisfaction. We often look for it in success, relationships, possessions, achievements, or new experiences. While these things may bring happiness for a season, they can never fully satisfy the deepest longing of the human heart. Sooner or later, we realize that the things of this world cannot give us the lasting joy we were created to enjoy.

God has placed within us a longing for what is eternal (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The blessings of this life are gifts to be enjoyed with gratitude, but they are never meant to become the foundation of our hope or identity. When we look to created things to give us what only God can provide, disappointment is inevitable.

In the closing verses of his first letter to Timothy, Paul instructs believers not to put their hope in uncertain riches but in God, "who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment" (1 Timothy 6:17). He goes on to encourage them to do good, to be generous, and to be willing to share (1 Timothy 6:18). By living with open hands and eternal priorities, believers lay hold of "the life that is truly life" (1 Timothy 6:19). These good works do not earn salvation; rather, they are the natural response of those who have trusted Christ and desire to honor Him (Ephesians 2:8–10; James 2:17).

True life is found only in Jesus Christ. God demonstrated His love by sending His Son to die for the sins of the world, and through His resurrection He offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who repents and believes in Him (John 3:16; Romans 10:9–10). When we place our faith in Christ, we are forgiven, welcomed into God's family, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a new life that reflects His character.

If you have been searching for lasting fulfillment, turn to Jesus. He alone can satisfy the deepest needs of your soul. And if you already belong to Him, let your life reflect that reality by trusting Him daily, serving others generously, and investing in what will last forever. That is the life that is truly life.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for offering me true life through Jesus Christ. Help me to place my hope in You rather than in the temporary things of this world. Teach me to live generously, faithfully, and with my eyes fixed on eternity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
